A shortage of paramedics is one of the sticking points in the Liberal Throne speech. They have said a committee will be formed to do a thorough review of the ambulance system.
Progressive Conservative Leader Blaine Higgs says that isn’t enough, “If given the opportunity, my party will take action immediately. On our first full day in office, we will call in Medavie and tell them it is not acceptable to have ambulances sitting empty while scared families wait for urgent help.”
Higgs says his party will prioritize this issue, “We will give Medavie the mandate to generate options to meet their service requirements and respect the language laws. They can use the ideas generated by the paramedics association or they can generate alternatives, but they will have a week to give us options.”
The Conservative leader calls what they Liberals delivered earlier this week, a shopping list throne speech, “There is one person who sits at the top of the government and makes sure that he mentions every issue under the sun and gives an answer. It mentions everyone and everything, but it solves nothing. To have 85 priorities is to have none.”
Higgs says his party’s throne speech, if given the opportunity, would be an action list.
