Dieppe Garage ‘A Total Write Off’ After Early Morning Fire

The Dieppe Fire Department spent about 90 minutes battling a fire at a garage outside city limits on Melanson Road shortly after 6 Friday morning.

District Chief Julien Boudreau explains what they encountered at the scene.

“Found a large garage fully involved, and we deployed hand lines to put the fire out, we were defensive on the fire as it was already quite involved before we could get to it,” says Boudreau.

He says while the garage is a total write off, “there was a house in the proximity that was not damaged to any extent.”

Boudreau says a challenge for this particular fire was that it was beyond Dieppe city limits, which means no fire hydrant access.

He says they called in a tanker truck from Moncton FD in support, and they sent a crew as well.

Nobody was injured, and the cause remains under investigation.
