Fallen Tree Closes Botsford Street

Winds caused power outages across the province earlier today.

Over 13, 000 NB Power customers were affected by the outages at one point.

At around 7am this morning, crews in Moncton were forced to close off Botsford Street, after an old tree fell beside a home.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says when they arrived on scene they had to isolate the area, because the tree also hit the power lines and a gas line.

NB Power and Enbridge Gas were called in to shut the services down.

Botsford between Mountain and St. George Streets had to be closed while they repaired the lines and removed the tree.

Environment Canada says the high wind speeds are expected to decrease this afternoon.
