The legalization of recreational cannabis will arrive at midnight and one group is not overly pleased.
New Brunswick Lung Association President and CEO Barb MacKinnon is urging people to basically not smoke cannabis.
“Smoking cannabis can cause chronic bronchitis and if you are a long-term user or a heavier user if can actually damage your lungs,” says MacKinnon.
Smoking both cannabis and tobacco double your chances of getting lung issues according to the association and it thinks the federal and provincial governments should implement a strong education component going forward.
” We really need to get education into the schools and to the general public as well about the real health effects of cannabis particularly on young people who have developing brains,” stated MacKinnon.
