Man Charged After Fredericton Shooting

A 56-year-old man arrested after a shooting last week in Fredericton has made his first court appearance.

Police say Eldon Wayne McCoy of Fredericton is charged with a single count of pointing a firearm.

In a news release on Saturday, police said more charges are expected to be laid when McCoy returns to court on Tuesday.

Officers were called to a home on the city’s north side early Friday and found a 47-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to hospital with what police describe as non-life threatening injuries.

Police said a suspect, who is known to the victim, was arrested on an adjacent property shortly after the shooting.
