“Spring 2 Action” Will Raise Funds For Harvest House

This has been a tough winter for Harvest House Atlantic in Moncton.

The homeless shelter has often been so full, clients have been forced to sleep on mats on the floor.

To help raise money to support its operations, the shelter’s annual “Spring 2 Action” Walk and Run is being held this Saturday, March 17th.

Executive director Cal Maskery says the shelter currently has 32 beds for men and 8 beds for women but the need is now even greater.

“We’ve gone to building inspection and they are going to allow us to build 8 new beds, 6 for men and 2 for women, and to complete a family room so that we have room for 3 or 4 beds when a family comes in,” he notes.

Maskery says the fundraising goal is $50,000 with about 500 participants needed.
