NB Power Monitoring Another Storm System Bound For New Brunswick

It’s been a trying time for power crews in the province who have been busy dealing with the fallout of the ice storm and with another storm now on the horizon, NB Power is staying on its toes.

A special weather statement has been issued by Environment Canada, which is calling for a low pressure system to bring snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain to our region.

Deborah Nobes of NB Power says they’re watching this very carefully and crews are resting so that they can be ready to respond.

“As the temperatures warm up, or the precipitation changes, we may have some scattered tree impacts on lines, as the ice melts off the trees the tree branches will bounce up and make contact with the lines,” says Nobes, “so we’re making sure we’re watching for that and we’re making sure we’re prepared.”

They’re not expecting this storm to bring the magnitude of precipitation that the last storm did, Nobes says.

The mixed precipitation is expected to arrive overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

All of New Brunswick is under a special weather statement.
