There’s a heavy police presence in the area near the Moncton hospital.
Codiac RCMP Sergeant Aurele Pelletier says in the middle of this afternoon, they were called about a man in a house on Edgett Avenue.
They made contact with him, and the man decided to barricade himself within the residence.
Sergeant Pelletier says their crisis negotiators are in contact with him at this moment.
He adds they are hoping for a peaceful resolution within the next hour.
Sergeant Pelletier is asking Monctonians to avoid going to the area around Edgett, Connaught, and MacBeth avenues until the situation is resolved.
