Warning Issued About Carbon Monoxide In Wake Of Ice Storm

With nearly three dozen people hospitalized because of carbon-monoxide related illness and two people dead because of CO poisoning in the wake of the ice storm, the offices of the chief medical officer of health and the fire marshal are warning New Brunswickers about the dangers.

You’re warned to never run a generator in your home, garage, or near a window or air intake outside of your home. Don’t use a BBQ, camping stove, or a propane heater inside of your house or garage.

Even cracking the door of your garage or your window isn’t enough ventilation and you can still get carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you think that someone you know has been impacted by CO you’re advised to get outside right away and then either call 911 or head to the closest hospital.
