Almost $242 million dollars in building permits were taken out, including $91.5 million for the Downtown centre that is currently under construction.
Residential development came in at $58 million, with the majority going to Shannex Corporation, which is developing seniors apartment complexes on the lands of U de M.
Commercial and industrial numbers were also strong, with a total of $162 million.
Director of Economic development for the City Kevin Silliker says “We are also starting the New Year with some promising new projects, and we will be working hard to see those and others through.”
