Greater Moncton SPCA Sees Increase In Numbers In 2016

2016 was a busy year for the Greater Moncton SPCA….

Executive Director Dave Rogers says they saw a major influx of kittens, “We currently have about three litters of kittens at the SPCA, that won’t be ready for adoption for probably another week or two, but that just gives you an idea, it just hasn’t stopped. Normally there are lulls in the intake of litters of kittens, but it just hasn’t stopped.”

Stray cat numbers are also up. Rogers says, “About 700 were dropped off or picked up in 2015, but this year it is about 800 in the Greater Moncton area.”

The overall number of animals was up in 2016 as well. Rogers says by the end of the month, they will have seen around 2100 through the shelter this year. That’s about 200 more as compared to 2015.
