GMCC Hopes Potential Carbon Tax Is Not A Burden

The Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce hopes the New Brunswick government treads carefully when it comes to a potential carbon tax for the province in 2017.

CEO Carol O’Reilly is concerned that another tax could become a burden for some given the level of taxes we already pay.

However, O’Reilly says the environment is changing and we know that by simply observing recent rollercoaster-like weather conditions in our region.

“We want to ensure that future generations will be be able to exisit and survive as we do,” she notes.

Premier Brian Gallant has said he wants a made-in-New Brunswick approach to a carbon tax but he hasn’t said how it could impact residents or businesses.
