Three Amur tiger cubs were born this summer at the Magnetic Hill Zoo with great fanfare but the animals will soon be leaving for their new homes.
Zoo Manager Bruce Dougan says the cubs have been taken off display and are being prepared to leave by truck later this week.
“They are going to a zoo in Ontario and then they will be dispersed to other accredited zoos in North America and/or Europe. I’m not sure of their final destinations just yet,” he notes.
Dougan says every zoo has different needs and most use a barter and trade system so money is rarely exchanged during animal transfers.
Although the cubs will be missed, he expects their parents Alik and Anya will produce more babies in the future.
