Electric vehicle drivers in Dieppe now have three new options for charging their cars.
Urban Planner Alex Girard says the City bought the three charging stations in 2015, but only got them installed recently.
The stations will be free for anyone to use for the first year of their operation.
“And afterwards, we are recommending that a fee of $1/hour be charged to users, so that is a comparable cost to other municipalities across the country,” says Girard.
Before you can use them you must register with the FLO Network, which helps you identify charging stations across the country.
“You would be able to go on to their website, and see if the charging stations are currently in use or if they are available to use,” says Girard. “So you would need to register and receive a card in order to access and start using these different charging stations.”
The three stations are at Place 1604, the Dieppe Aquatic Centre, and the Arthur J. LeBlanc Centre.
Girard believed each charging station was about $3,500, with an annual operating cost of $150 per station, although that does not include the cost for power generated by use from users.
