13 year old Brooklyn Douthwright spends about 24 hours a week in a pool.
The swimmer from Riverview recently broke several provincial swim records, and will be heading to two national competitions in other provinces in the coming weeks.
Brooklyn Douthwright is off to Calgary this weekend for the National Age Groups Championships in Calgary, and then she’ll head to Edmonton, for the
Senior Nationals Swim Canada event.
Douthwright swims with the Codiac Vikings Swim Club, “This is my fourth year , but I just finished my sixth year as a Synchronized Swimmer.”
Her family has a pool, and she learned to swim when she was just two years old.
On August 14th, Douthwright will take part in the Big Swim, across the Northumberland Strait, in support of Brigadoon Children’s camp. This is her second time crossing the Strait.
It’s a camp for children, youth and families living with a chronic illness, chronic condition or special need in Atlantic Canada.
Last year, Douthwright raised $1600. She says her focus last year was just on getting across the Strait, but this year she hopes to raise even more than that.
