Residents are waiting patiently for further details on a community centre for the north end of the city.
An announcement is expected to come in the fall from the YMCA and the City of Moncton.
CEO Zane Korytko says a feasibility student was done last year to determine what features residents would like to see in the centre, “There will be a wellness centre, a weight room, dance studio, and multipurpose spaces.”
Korytko says responses also included the hope for a pool in the centre as well, but he says that can be very costly. Instead, they hope to include an indoor all year round splash pad and playground.
Negotiations are currently underway to reach a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Moncton and the Greater Moncton YMCA.
