Trucking Group Supports Immigration Influx

Immigration could be the answer to help fill hundreds of available jobs in the trucking industry throughout Atlantic Canada.

Jean Marc Picard, executive director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, says his organization is applauding Ottawa’s recent immigration pilot project for the region.

He says hopefully it will impact them in a good way because they have many jobs available in Atlantic Canada and they can’t fill them.

Picard notes immigrants are traditionally good workers and may have lots of time available especially if their families are still living overseas.

He adds many trucking companies need more employees – yesterday.
