Canada Post could be locking out their employees on Friday.
National Director for the Canadian Union of Postal Workers for Atlantic Canada Jeff Callaghan says it’s disappointing, but he’s not surprised.
Callaghan says the union will not react with a 72 hour notice back to strike and says they want to negotiate a collective agreement with Canada Post.
He says Canada Post has not been bargaining fairly or in good faith since the beginning of the negotiations.
Pay equity is one of the union’s major priorities.
Callaghan says rural carriers are predominantly 70-percent women that are being paid almost 30 percent less then their male counterparts.
He says for Canada Post to get a contract they need to address the issue of pay equity.
