Nobel Peace Prize winner, activist, writer and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel passed away over the weekend at the age of 87.
Katherine Biggs-Craft of the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum says his book “night” was an inspiration to many.
Craft says it’s sad that Wiesel’s contributions to society and humanity are gone, but he will live forever through his actions and wisdom.
She calls Wiesel a true hero for being able to tell his story, because there are some Holocaust survivors who are unable to tell their story at all, or can’t talk about it until much later in life.
