Low-Cost Airlines Have Struggled In Canada

Starting later this month, New Leaf Travel will take to the skies in hopes of becoming a successful low-cost airline in Canada.

Despite an Open Skies Agreement to reduce barriers almost 30 years ago, many airlines have come and gone.

New Leaf Travel spokesperson Dean Dacko says the U.S. has reduced those barriers far more than Canada has during that period.

Dacko adds the federal government and federal transport officials say they have a big desire to provide Canadians with better flying options.

Meantime, New Leaf Travel will begin flights out of the Greater Moncton International Airport on July 29th.
