Volunteers Still Sought To Support Syrian Refugees In Greater Moncton

More than 300 Syrian refugees are settling into the community but volunteers are still needed for support according to the Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area.

MAGMA interim executive director Justin Ryan says community outreach has been critical with hundreds of new immigrants arriving in just a few months.

“For example, we have a long-term program – the family connections program – that pairs individuals, couples and families with Syrian families to be long term support,” he notes.

If you don’t have that much time, Ryan adds volunteers are also needed to help out with language classes, teaching life skills and even simple grunt work like moving furniture around at the Peace Centre.
