A local law firm has teamed up with members of the motorcycle community, in an effort to increase safety for riders..
A meeting was recently held with the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Denis Landry, to further discuss improvements to rules, and enhance education and awareness of drivers, of the motorcycles around them.
Justin Robichaud, who is a partner at Fidelis Law says we’ve seen two fatal accidents in Moncton already this year, and these accidents can be prevented, “Unfortunately what we have seen over the years is an increase in the number of accidents involving motorcycles, and obviously the consequences for victims are life changing.”
He says more and more people are taking up motorcycling, “There has been an almost doubling of registrations in New Brunswick, which means more motorcycles on the road and an increased risk of accidents happening.”
Robichaud says the meeting was the first step, and the next will be forming a group in Moncton, so they can work with stakeholders and the government, to ensure changes are made, to make the roads safer for all motorists.
