Greater Moncton SPCA Filling Up With Cats And Kittens

The Executive Director of the Greater Moncton SPCA says it’s no surprise that they are almost to their limit for cats right now.

Dave Rogers says in the spring, they are usually inundated with kittens and pregnant cat moms, which means even more kittens.

Right now, they have about eight litters, and that’s about 50 kittens, “The Majority that we receive here are stray cats. It’s about 60 per cent stray and 40 per cent surrendered animals.”

Rogers says they’re at about 80 per cent capacity at the moment. He says they have had an offer from the SPCA in Dartmouth to take some cats, if they need more space, but he says they’re not at that point just yet.
