Paralympic Gold Medalist Dave Durepos Speaks In Saint John

Paralympic gold medalist and Fredericton native Dave Durepos spoke in Saint John earlier today about finding meaning in life after he was involved in a motorcyle accident that left him paralyzed at 20-years-old.

Durepos is a 3-time gold medalist and played with the Canadian Men’s wheelchair basketball team for almost two decades.

He says the sport changed his life.

Durepos says it gave him hope and showed him his life wasn’t over.

He says he never expected to play for team Canada for 19 years.

Durepos says he’s currently helping a young 14-year old athlete in Fredericton who suffers from muscular dystrophy.

He says he introduced him to wheelchair basketball and it changed his life as well.
