UPDATE: Tragically Hip Tour Announced

The Tragically Hip have announced a summer Canadian tour, but fans in Atlantic Canada will have to travel if they want to see the band.

A 10-city Canadian tour will start July 22 in Victoria and end Aug. 20 in Kingston.

No dates have been scheduled east of Ontario.

Tickets go on sale on June 3rd.

It was announced yesterday that Lead Singer Gord Downie was diagnosed in December with Terminal brain cancer.

This could be the Tragically Hip’s last tour.

Band Manager Patrick Sambrook says The Hip have had an impact on the lives of many of their fans, “I think this is appropriate and awesome for everyone involved, to give and receive and what happens when this band plays live, and what they mean to people and the people to them. The hope is that this run will be like most, great, awesome and exciting and everyone will be happy at the end.”

The Band’s other Manager Bernie Breen says this tour is expected to be very meaningful to a lot of people, “It’s when you go to a Tragically Hip show and it brings you back to your life and the places where you heard certain songs. I think that is what the tour will be like, and those experiences will happen during the tour.”

Fans and friends of the band took to social media yesterday offering support.
