Food Depot Alimentire Needs Volunteers To Help With New Food Centre

Volunteers are needed to to help the Food Depot Alimentaire run the Food Centre taking over the old Garrison Building.

Executive Director Chantal Senecal says they need an average of 20 volunteers per day, working on everything from packing up deliveries and handing out food, to working in the community garden planned for this summer.

She adds they also intend to launch a Community Action Space where professionals can come and donate their time and expertise.

“So if somebody wants to do budgeting or helping talk to somebody about a specific service they can offer, we had an optician approach us about helping out,” says Senecal. “So there’s all sorts of opportunities there.”

She says there will be two information sessions at the Lion’s Community Centre on March 22nd, one around noon, and one in the evening around 6:30 for anyone who wants to learn more about how to help.
