If you go looking for the elephant this year at Hopewell Rocks, It will be hard to find.
The tourist attraction reported on its Facebook page yesterday, that Elephant Rock underwent a major change yesterday morning, after almost half of the rock on the formation fell off.
Elephant Rock has been one of the favourites amongst tourists, and it is also the rock featured in the picture on New Brunswick’s Medicare card.
In a post, officials say, “This is big and sad news for us, but our “Rocks” landscape endures incredible forces of nature in the form of tide, wind, rain, snow and brutal temperature variations, it is ever changing and I guess, to be expected. The collapse alters a certain dynamic, but who knows what may emerge from what at first glance looks like nothing more than rubble…stay tuned.”
