Metro Moncton Newcomers Try Something Very Canadian

What is more Canadian than maple syrup?

The season is now underway in New Brunswick and the Moncton Maple Sugar Camp has been hosting some newcomers in the community.

Spokesperson Heather Fraser says Syrian immigrants were fascinated by the process when they visited this week.

“They can’t believe the sap that comes from the trees is so sweet. When it comes off the evaporator, they are quite surprised by that. They are also surprised how they can use maple syrup… not just on pancakes and waffles,” she notes.

The Moncton Maple Sugar Camp is open daily for the season with free tours at 11-am and 2-pm.

The camp is located in the Turtle Creek watershed area on Route 910, south of Riverview.
