Standoff Near Hampton Ends With Arrest Of 26-Year-Old Man

RCMP spending about nine hours on the scene of a home in Lower Norton near Hampton before the situation ended peacefully with the arrest of a 26-year-old man.

Police officers were called to the Pickwauket Road at about 1am Friday for a report of a shot fired. Constable Jullie Rogers-Marsh tells us the call was that the man had a firearm. When they arrived a woman had already escaped the house and the man was alone.

A section of Route 845 was blocked off but it has now been re-opened. Nobody was hurt.
