Future Of Shale Gas In New Brunswick

The question about whether shale gas development will ever be happening in New Brunswick ever is doubtful according to the Conservation Council’s Stephanie Merrill.

She believes the death knell was sounded with the climate change agreement that was reached in Paris a few months back together with market forces with the price tanking.

Merrill says any new provincial energy policy should be about how we can create jobs, protect the environment and hit our climate change target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Provincial Green Party leader David Coon argues 18 per cent of the energy now used in New Brunswick is already renewable.

Shale gas in New Brunswick has been destroyed……..So claims the energy critic for the provincial Conservatives, M-L-A Jake Stewart. He maintains the industry was decimated before the Commission of shale gas development released its report on Friday.

Stewart also is claiming the L-N-G project is dead and the proposed Energy East pipeline, in his view at least, is 2 to 3 years behind at a minimum.
