Bessborough School Student Shares Her Kenya Experiences With Fellow Students

A grade seven student from Bessborough School is very grateful for all that she has.

Anna Murphy-Kaulbeck visited Kenya in December.

She delivered pens, pencils, markers, shoes, toothbrushes and other school supplies to around 200 children. They were all donated by other students at Bessborough School.

Anna shared her experiences during an assembly at the school yesterday, “They were so excited with their school supplies, and it was just like when I got my brand new bike. There’s a big difference to get three new pencils as compared to getting a new bike. It’s very sad to know that other people don’t live as fortunately as we do.”

She hopes to return to Kenya to bring even more supplies in the future, “We’re going to try and do it every Christmas and give a little to them because we know how less fortunate they are.”

In return for the donations, an orphaned elephant named Simotua, whose mother had been killed by poachers, was adopted by Bessborough School.
