The Energy and Utilities Board hearing an application from NB Power for an interim rate increase of 2 per cent to go into effect April 1st.
The utility telling the Board members it will lose 3.8 million dollars if its application is rejected.
Public Intervenor Heather Black maintains NB Power has not met the test for an interim rate increase which should only be granted if there are exceptional circumstances.
J-D Irving is also opposed, saying it would set a dangerous precedent. It claims NB Power did not get its application ready in time and that doesn’t constitute exceptional circumstances.
