RCMP Memorial Sculpture Coming Along Well

The bronze RCMP memorial sculpture is coming along quite well.

That’s according to Newfoundland artist Morgan MacDonald.

He says the design has gone through a couple rounds of changes so far.

“I think the most significant one that people are going to notice is that you’re not going to see the three red serges,” says MacDonald. “One of the sculptures is going to be in a red serge, but there’s going to be a member in active duty, and another member as a dogman.”

MacDonald says it’s turning out quite well, and will demonstrate the different roles of the RCMP.

He adds it has been a wonderful but emotional experience.

“I think that’s probably from the level of difficulty working on that,” says MacDonald. “That’s been the toughest part is trying to get the likenesses of these guys recreated in the clay and the sculptures.”

He says they aim to have the memorial done in time for June 4th of 2016.
