Recent census estimates from StatsCanada show the population of Metro Moncton has now surpassed the population of Prince Edward Island.
Data from July shows Metro Moncton with almost 148, 000 people while P-E-I had just under 147, 000 people.
Among Canada’s metro areas, Moncton ranked as the 8th fastest growing with a population growth rate of 1.3 percent year-over-year.
The Saint John metro area decreased slightly to sit at 127, 000 people.
