As homeowners continue to clean-up after a heavy snowfall last week, and a lot of blowing snow, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
It’s important to keep entrance ways clear of snow.
Deputy Chief for the Moncton Fire Department Don McCabe says this is especially beneficial if a fire ever starts in your home, “You should clean your walkway and your patio so you have a second means of escape. If you leave the snow piled up at the door, and that’s your only way out, that’ll stop you from getting out.”
Homeowners also need to keep outside vents for natural gas or pellet stoves clear. If they are blocked, carbon monoxide could fill your home, and it could prove to be deadly.
Carbon monoxide is clear and has no smell.
A carbon monoxide detector can help detect this type of gas in your home.
