GMCC Says NB Budget Is Tough Pill To Swallow

The Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce concedes the provincial budget will be a hard pill to swallow for many in the province.

CEO Carol O’Reilly says this is not a good news budget for anyone having financial difficulties.

O’Reilly says a corporate tax rate jump from 12 to 14 percent also comes at a bad time with a slumping loonie creating difficulties for many businesses.

“With the economy and everything going on with the dollar… businesses who are importing things from around the world are really have a rough time,” she notes.

Despite the tax hikes, O’Reilly says this budget may be painful but it was necessary to help the province’s bottom line.
