No promises of funding from the provincial government for the wastewater treatment plant serving the tri-community area.
That’s from Victor Boudreau, the Minister responsible for the New Brunswick Regional Development Corporation.
He says while it is an important project, they have more funding requests than they can afford.
“We are continuously with Trans-Aqua, I know that staff from the Regional Development Corporation reached out to their staff just last week to continue the dialogue, we’ll get to a point where we’ll have to make a decision,” says Boudreau.
TransAqua must complete a $90 million upgrade by 2020 to comply with new federal regulations.
They have already set aside roughly $37 million through rate increases, and with the federal government promising billions in infrastructure upgrades, the province is the last piece needed to get the project underway.
