Volunteer Firefighter Program Ending In Dieppe December 31st

There will be no more volunteer firefighters in the Dieppe Fire Department as of December 31st.

Dieppe Fire Chief Charles Leblanc says this decision is the product of many months of thought.

He says the decision is mostly the result of growth in the City and changes in the technology.

“With all the new infrastructure that we’re dealing with today, the new industrial park area, a lot of specialty in the fire side that we have to get certified in, we’re putting a lot of volunteers at risk trying to maintain their certification,” says Chief Leblanc.

He says this change won’t impact their ability to provide effective fire service.
