Whooping Cough Outbreak In Greater Moncton Up To 36 Cases

There are 36 confirmed cases of whooping cough in the Greater Moncton area.

That’s according to East Region Medical Officer of Health Dr. Yves Leger.

He says up until this morning the cases are continuing in the same pattern.

“That is to say we continue to see most of the cases in young children, and adolescents and a few in adults as well,” says Dr. Leger. “Fortunately we haven’t seen any cases to date in young children and infants.”

Dr. Leger says everyone should check their vaccination status, especially pregnant women, and those who are likely to come in close contact with infants and newborns.
