Greater Moncton Chamber Of Commerce Holds Local All Candidates Debate

With the election less than two weeks away, all four candidates took place in a debate last night at the Moncton Press Club.

The debate was organized by the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce and was focused on the economy, resource development, and job creation.

All candidates were asked what needs to be done in Greater Moncton to stimulate the economy.

Liberal Candidate Ginette Petitpas-Taylor says historic infrastructure spending, and lowering tax rates is the way to go.

All other candidates also agreed that lowering the small and medium business tax was sensible.

Other suggestions included investment in green technology by Green Party candidate Luc Melanson, and strong social programs from NDP candidate Luc Leblanc.

Conservative incumbent Robert Goguen said reducing taxes would give families more buying power.
