Dieppe and Moncton In Running For La Francophonie Games

New Brunswick’s bid to host the 2021 Games of La Francophonie in the cities of Moncton and Dieppe has completed its first step.

The international committee of the Games of La Francophonie announced that the three bids received from Dieppe and Moncton; Sherbrooke, Quebec; and Guadeloupe, for France, have been retained.

The provincial government submitted the bid in July.

Economic spinoffs from the games are estimated at around $25 million for the province.

The Francophonie Games make up the largest sports and cultural event dedicated to youth.

The final choice for the 2021 Games will be made in the fall of 2016.
