The New Brunswick Coalition for Pay Equity is urging New Brunswick to extend it’s Pay Equity Act to the private sector.
Johanne Perron is the Executive Director, she says wage discrimination based on sex is still prevalent.
Perron says jobs need to be evaluated to ensure the pay system is modern.
She says human rights acts are not enough to ensure pay equity.
Perron says 65% of New Brunswick women on the labour market are working in the private sector.
