A poll shows that a large number of young people are making important educational decisions to keep their parents happy.
According to the latest RBC Student Finances survey, parents seem to underestimate the influence they have over their children’s education.
While 28 percent of students say they chose a program to please their parents only 21 percent of parents think they have this influence.
In addition, 10 percent of students made decisions on their post-secondary education to satisfy their parents but only half as many parents felt the same.
RBC Student Banking Director Mandy Mail suggests parents keep an open line of communication with their children to ensure they make thoughtful decisions about their future.
