Environmental Groups At Mispec Warn About Energy East Dangers

Protecting the Bay of Fundy from a mega-project that is destructive from a climate and eco-system perspective. That’s why several environmental groups gathered at Mispec Beach.

Tim Gray of Environmental Defense says they want to offer support to New Brunswickers who shares concerns about the Energy East impact.

He says the upstream impact it means building a new pipeline through New Brunswick and Quebec and turning an old leaking gas pipeline in Ontarion and across the prairies into something that carries very corrosive oil.

Representatives from several environmental groups across the country took a tour of Canaport and spoke about the ills of Energy East at Mispec Beach.

As you might expect, TransCanada disagrees with its environmental critics on the potential dangers coming from Energy East.
Spokesperson Tim Duboyce says they have inventory work in terms of the species in the area that may be impacted.

He says their environmental experts have come to the conclusion that there is no material impact on species in the water in the area where they will be carrying out the construction.

A barge near Canaport is currently doing geotechnical surveys at the bottom of the seabed to know what they are building on top of.
