Codiac RCMP is reminding everyone to be careful as kids start going back to school.
Corporal Mike Gaudet says it’s all about sharing the road, and communicating effectively.
He says, “There’s a lot more traffic, and motorists need to be aware of their surroundings. There could be a lot of little kids darting out into the street because they’re excited to see their friends.”
But the pedestrians also need to keep good eye contact with the motorists as well, “You must use the crosswalk, and give a little wave to the driver to make them aware that you are crossing.”
Bus safety is also important. Motorists must stop for school buses, and those attempting to go around a stopped school bus could face large fines.
