A New Brunswick Community is taking a lead in helping to save the lives of those with severe allergies.
The Town of Sussex is putting epinephrine auto-injectors into numerous locations including schools and businesses. This makes them easily accessible in the case of a severe allergic reaction.
Nurse Practitioner Kelly Dunfield says they are the first community in Canada to do this.
She says, “We are still rolling this project out, but in the Sussex and area, they have the auto-injectors at 24 sites and in various schools.”
The epinephrine auto-injectors are used to treat life threatening allergic reactions.
Dunfield says their hope is to encourage other communities to do the same.
