Greenhouse Gas Emissions Declining in Atlantic Canada

Atlantic Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions dropping 26% since peak levels in 2004.
A report released by the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council showing the decline is due to the region’s slowing economic growth,
The intensity of emissions in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are higher than the national average because both provinces remain heavily reliant on fossil fuels for electricity.
The closure of pulp and paper mills reduced electricity demand which led to the reduction in the use of fossil fuels.
