A Fredericton man getting in hot water after bringing a boat into Canada, without reporting to Canadian customs.
67 year old Donald Duplisea pleading guilty in St. Stephen Provincial Court to charges of failing to present himself to Canadian Border Services, as well as attempting to evade payment of duties for a 31 foot seafarer’s sailboat.
He said he bought the boat in the US, kept it in Eastport for the winter while he did maintenace, and brought it to Beaver Harbour in June, in an attempt to sell it.
It was noted in court, Duplisea wouldn’t be making a profit on the 43 year old vessel, as it needed lots of work, and he was only trying to sell it because his wife asked him to give up sailing.
He has been ordered to pay a fine of $1500 within 60 days.
