If you have a job offer to be a mystery shopper, police are suggesting you might want to give it a pass.
The mystery shopper cashes cheques, provided by the scammers, and then are asked to wire a portion of the money to a name provided.
When the cheque is processed and found to be fraudulent, it’s the mystery shopper who has to pay the money back.
If unsure about whether a cheque is legit or not, police say you should contact the issuing company and make sure the cheque clears before sending off any money.
