Moncton Doing Well As FIFA Women’s World Cup Host

The City of Moncton believes they have done a good job of putting on the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Venue General Manager says despite a few hiccups they have put on a world class event.

Stephane Delisle says the fans have been rewarded with top quality soccer as shown by the number of plays from Moncton in the FIFA highlights.

“There were two plays in Moncton that made the top 10, one being number 1, and one being number 3, so you know to say that we had great play in Moncton is an understatement when you have that as a back up,” says Delisle.

Delisle says with an event of this scope, they are continually learning, and have made adjustments between each match day to ensure a positive experience for fans.

He says they are meeting every day locally and with the FIFA team nationally.

“Because it’s important that we not only be consistent across the country, but we refine those little things to ensure we’re delivering a world class experience,” says Delisle. “Yeah sure, we’re going to do long tem assessments at the end but every day we’re looking at making sure we’re getting it right.”

Delisle says the first match day was 89 percent full, while Saturday’s matches were sold out.

He says ticket sales for tonight and Wednesday have been steady, but aren’t sold out yet.
